About The Studio
Welcome to Body Balance Pilates in Peckham, a small home studio for matwork Pilates classes and mindfulness workshops. Class size is limited to 8 people, to maximise individual attention and allow you to get the most from your practice.
I have small equipment such as stretchy bands, foam rollers, balls and toning circles, and use these in class to mix up the repertoire and give an added dimension to your workout.
Body Balance Pilates in based in the centre of Peckham, within walking distance of Peckham Rye and Queens Road train stations. It is a 20-minute stroll from Nunhead station and Bellenden Village in nearby East Dulwich.
Classes are small to ensure full attention and that you can truly benefit from my guidance and supervision.
For Welcome to Motherhood, class size is limited to 6 mums
and babies. Monthly workshops are welcome up to 12 participants.
As the studio is in my home, you may find traces of my children's presence detectable as you enter (although they are hopefully always in bed!). The studio is a tranquil and serene space, dedicated to mindful movement and meditation.
About Anya Hayes
I'm a Pilates teacher, author and speaker specialising in perinatal mental and physical health. I love Pilates and the
BODY–MIND aspect of mindful movement. I've been practising Pilates and yoga for 16 years, and became a Pilates teacher in 2008, with Body Control Pilates www.bodycontrol.co.uk.
I'm a big believer in nurturing our body to nurture our spirit.
I'm a meditation teacher trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I weave mindfulness into my Pilates courses, particularly Welcome to Motherhood and the Mama MIND–BODY wellness coaching programme.
My teaching style is gentle but challenging, adapting exercises to suit your ability and needs. Body Control teachers are required to undertake continuous professional development so each year we continue to learn and develop our understanding and teaching skills.
I love working with pregnancy and new mums, navigating
the transition we experience entering motherhood. I specialise in pre- and postnatal Pilates (and especially post-caesarean), understanding personally the pressures that pregnancy and motherhood can wreak on body and mind. Pilates is a wonderful way of stretching and strengthening the body, releasing tension that causes niggly aches and pains. It's perfect for counteracting the motherhood puts on our body and spirit.
